SHEFFIELD Wednesday and Sheffield Hallam University have announced they will be working together from the start of the next football season.

The partnership will see the Owls squad make use of the University’s Academy of Sport and Physical Activity at the Collegiate Crescent campus on Ecclesall Road to help improve team and staff performance.

In return, 25 internship positions for undergraduate and postgraduate students, based at Hillsborough, will be made available.

Dean Ramsdale, Sheffield Wednesday Academy Manager, said: “The interaction between ourselves and the Sport Academy at Sheffield Hallam University is something I’m very excited about.”

Rob Wilson, head of external relations for Sheffield Hallam’s Academy of Sport and Physical Activity, said: “As an academic institution, we are really pleased to have established a close working relationship with one of the largest football clubs in England.”
