Sheffield United and Chesterfield fans charged over derby day violence

Seven men have been charged over clashes between Sheffield United and Chesterfield fans.

The group have been charged with public order offences after fighting at the local derby in Chesterfield on October 4.

Derbyshire Police carried out surveillance during the match and later arrested a group of men. The men will appear at North East Derbyshire and Dales Magistrates’ Court on January 23.

Those charged are Jack Cowen, 21, of Harwood Drive, Sheffield; Jonathon Bowling, 23, of Bowman Drive, Norton, Sheffield; Jordan Hadwin, 20, of Park Road, Wath-upon-Dearne, Rotherham; Reece Marr, 19, of Tennyson Avenue, Chesterfield; Dean Mellor, 41, of The Fairways, Danesmoor, Chesterfield; Paul Riley, 51, of Grangemoor Road, Chesterfield; and Craig Mellor, 41, of Linden Avenue, Clay Cross.

A 16-year-old boy was also arrested and has received a police caution.
