SHEFFIELD knows all about silverware.
But it’s not every day that a son of the city gets his hands on a piece of silver as precious as this.
Tennis superstar Jonny Marray was proud to show off the Wimbledon Men’s Double trophy he earned when becoming the first British winner in 76 years.
He took it along to a civic reception at Sheffield Town Hall, where he was joined by his family, friends and a host of dignitaries.
Council leader Julie Dore told him: “Thank you sincerely, from the bottom of my heart and from the people of Sheffield, for this fantastic achievement. You’re a great ambassador for Sheffield.”
