A police appeal has been launched after a 17-year-old girl was assaulted by a man in Darnall.
Two girls, aged 16 and 17, were walking along Main Road in Darnall on Sunday, June 26 when they were approached by an unknown man.
The man, described as Asian, is then said to have assaulted the 17-year-old, causing serious injuries to her face.
She was taken to hospital but has since been discharged.
The 16-year-old girl was not injured during the incident.
Detective Constable Eleanor Welsh, the investigating officer, said: “I would like to appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw or heard anything suspicious to contact police.
“While I appreciate that this is a very limited description, this was a highly distressing incident for the victim and I would urge anyone with any information to come forward.
“Maybe you were returning from a night out and saw something? If you have any information, please call 101 quoting incident number 120 of 26 June 2016.”
