A hairdresser has proved he’s a cut above the rest after working at one of the fashion industry’s most prestigious events for the fifth consecutive year.
Daniel Biggin, a senior stylist at Creator Hair on West Street in Sheffield’s city centre, has just returned from New York where he has been styling top models’ hair for the city’s Fashion Week.
The 30-year-old was first selected to work at the exclusive event in September 2009 and has since returned twice a year to help showcase elite fashion designers’ autumn/winter and spring/summer collections.
Daniel worked as part of a team on seven runway shows for designers including Zara Bayne, Betsey Johnson and Taoray Wang.
Well-known models who landed in his styling seat included Devyn Abdullah, the winner of reality TV show, The Face USA, and world-famous model, Diandra Forrest.
Daniel, from Nether Edge, said: “New York Fashion Week is always very intense but highly enjoyable.
“I absolutely love the city – it’s amazing.
“I was staying at The Standard High Line Hotel in the mist of the world’s biggest designers and fashion bloggers.
“I got to attend some amazing after-show parties, including roof-top parties in 35-degree Manhattan heat.
“It’s great to be part of such an exclusive event. Over the week I didn’t meet another British stylist.
“I’m thrilled to be invited back year after year – with 10 seasons under my belt, I’m living the dream.”
Daniel is now keen to share the skills he’s developed in The Big Apple with Sheffield fashionistas – he and fellow-stylist Bryony Higginbotham are set to launch ‘The Blow’ within Creator on October 3.
The blow dry bar will recreate top hair trends from the fashion catwalks, encouraging clients to change their locks with the season, just like they change their clothes.
