MUSIC, comedy, drama and even belly dancing – it is all happening at Sheffield University’s Societies Takeover.
The university’s Students’ Union has more than 250 societies, offering a range of activities – and on Wednesday, February 13, there will be a chance for the public to find out more at the takeover.
Held at the Students’ Union, Western Bank, from 7pm to 11pm, the takeover is a free showcase of all the things the many societies are achieving
Melissa Chedd, societies committee events coordinator, said: “The takeover is a fantastic opportunity for the public to see an amazing visual spectacle of university interests and talents.
“It’s a night of theatre, music, dance, games, comedy and interactive stalls.
“There will be a range of performances, from samba drumming to burlesque, belly dancing to gospel choir, hip hop to traditional ceilidh dancing, as well as theatre, performing art and comedy.”
Other showcases will include the students’ own version of hit topical show Mock the Week, plus a Countdown-inspired battle between English and maths students.
