MILITARY heroes are set to benefit from a cash boost thanks to a Sheffield attraction.

Owlerton Greyhound Stadium raised £5,615 at a fundraiser this summer dedicated to honouring Yorkshire’s servicemen and women.

Cash raised at the Military Heroes event will be split between the Army Benevolent Fund and Help for Heroes.

Money will go to Phoenix House in Catterick, a recovery unit for soldiers in need of rehabilitation.

John Gilburn, managing director of Owlerton Stadium, said: “This year’s fundraising event was again a great success and, thanks to everyone’s support and contributions to the event, we have been able to continue our tradition of supporting retired soldiers and their families.

“Having so many servicemen from the region at the event really brought home the significance of these charities.”
