Sheffield squash superstar Nick Matthew has netted his best win ever - the safe arrival of his first baby.
Charlotte Rose was born on Tuesday. She and Nick’s wife Esme, a physiologist for the GB cycling team, thanked family and friends for their ‘kind messages and support’.
Commonwealth gold medallist Nick posted on his Twitter account a picture of himself grinning in the hospital birthing suite and holding newborn Charlotte wrapped in a towel.
The 34-year-old former High Storrs School pupil, who has won the British Open and World Open three times each wrote: “Welcome to the world our beautiful daughter Charlotte Rose Matthew born 9/9/14.”
