Sheffield speed limit could be cut to 20mph in residential areas

ALL residential streets in Sheffield could have speed limits cut to 20mph under plans which may be imposed from later this year.

The 20's Plenty campaign group - made up of cyclists, the Green Party and NHS Sheffield - has been lobbying for the change for months.

Now Sheffield Council's Liberal Democrat leadership has given its backing - describing the move as "an excellent idea".

But rather than a city-wide introduction, the council is proposing that 20 mph limits should be considered for each area in turn.
