Sharp-shooter Richard Ashbee has wildlife in his sights.

The Sheffield nature lover, aged 57, from Norton Lees, travels Europe snapping birds, flowers and insects and also ventures into forests closer to home.

In a previous life he was a training instructor in the construction industry.

Now he is running a photography workshop at Sherwood Pines Forest Park in Nottinghamshire.

Richard said: “Patience, technique and confidence are key ingredients and I’ll be sharing the secrets of getting top results at the workshop.”

The workshop is one of a series of events being staged by the Forestry Commission at the 1,200 hectare beauty spot, near Clipstone, Nottinghamshire.

Richard is running a beginner’s session on September 8, followed by a workshop on September 15.

Jean Binney, also from Sheffield, who has spent 25 years drawing fruit and flowers, will run a novice drawing class on August 26.

Lindsey Brown, from theForestry Commission said: “These are a wonderful opportunities to learn from experts in a stunning setting.”
