A young Sheffield singer has made it though to the semi- finals of a national song writing competition.

Eloise Short is shortlisted in the UK Songwriting Contest which was launched in 2002 in Association with the Brit Trust.

Eloise has been singing in and around Sheffield since she was 16, starting out in clubs then moving into jazz and latterly country and pop.

She said: “I’ve had a lot of support over the years from Sheffield bars Cubana, The Damhouse, Ruskins and The Walnut Club and worked with some amazing local musicians.”

Her debut solo album Country Girl has already received interest and recognition from the BBC.
