About 30 retailers have shown an interest in Sheffield’s proposed new retail quarter, The Star can reveal today.
A data request to the council showed that ‘informal discussions’ had been held with around ‘30 retailers who had expressed a positive interest’.
The response added: “We will be in a position to start formal negotiations once a developer is in place and planning consent secured.”
The quarter would have around 50 shops, 120 flats and up to 2,300 parking spaces. Under current plans, it would act as an ‘extension’ to Fargate with a pedestrianised stretch and link to The Moor through a revamped Charter Square.
