SIX Sheffield Scouts are the first in their troop to get their Gold Chief Scout’s Award.

The members of the 180th Millhouses troop, had to gain nine challenge badges in activities such as cooking, expedition training and camping, to get their certificates, which were presented to them by county commissioner Andy Ward.

Scout leader Jeremy Holmes said: “I am proud of these Scouts who have worked so hard to gain this award.

“This is a huge commitment for boys of this age.”

The boys will now move on to be explorer scouts with a group of others under the new name WANATO.

Jeremy said: “This is a new section for the 180th Millhouses, but with just a great group who are keen to carry on with scouting, these can only lead to further success.”
