A NEW extension creating room for two new classes every year has been opened at a Sheffield school by MP David Blunkett.
Fir Vale School needs more space to cope with a baby boom in the area which has already seen primary schools in the area grow in size.
The Labour MP for Brightside and Hillsborough said he was pleased the extension had been built before the current clampdown on investment in schools.
Mr Blunkett said: “Fir Vale has gone from strength to strength, providing for young people and their families the kind of opportunity that was taken for granted in other parts of Sheffield.”
Tina Ball, chairman of governors at the school, said: “It is wonderful to be able to offer places to another two classes each year from now on – our ambition is to be able to offer a place to every child in our catchment area.”
