A Sheffield school has reopened today after a hoax threat saw hundreds of students evacuated yesterday.

Fir Vale School, in Fir Vale, was evacuated after information was received about a threat to a nearby building.

The threat later turned out to be a hoax.

A spokesman for Fir Vale School Academy Trust said: “Fir Vale School Academy Trust was evacuated t in response to information received regarding what now appears to be a hoax threat to a nearby building. The Local Authority, Chair of Governors and the headteacher concluded that the evacuation was necessary to ensure the safety and security of all the students and staff.

“The students are to be commended for the mature and calm way they left the site and the staff are thanked for their teamwork and cooperation in assisting evacuation.

“Headteacher Breffni Martin would also like to thank all the parents for their continued support.”
