FIRE and broken glass will be obstacles for the Lord Mayor of Sheffield when he takes part in a charity challenge.
Coun John Campbell is braving the heat to cross 20ft of embers burning at 1,236F and also to walk over 2,000 broken wine bottles.
The event is being held in support of Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind’s centre on Mappin Street, on Friday.
Coun Campbell said: “I am delighted to support this worthwhile cause.
“People with sight loss daily have to face many challenges and I wanted to set my own challenge to support them.”
He has enlisted the help of Jenny Renshaw, SRSB chiropodist, to pamper his feet prior to the event and is now appealing for sponsorship – to donate, visit Lord Mayors Walk
Sue Coggin, SRSB fundraising manager, who will be joining Coun Campbell on the embers, said: “We still have a few places left so anyone is welcome to come along and take part.”
