GRITTERS will be out treating Sheffield roads tonight as freezing temperatures have been predicted.
From 5.30pm Amey - the contractor working on the city’s Streets Ahead roads scheme - is delivering ‘precautionary gritting’.
The firm said the action was taking place because freezing temperatures and snow had been forecast on high ground.
A team of 20 gritters will work through the night to disperse around 550 tonnes of grit and stay out Saturday morning.
Motorists are urged to plan journeys in advance, leave plenty of time to reach their destination and drive according to the weather conditions.
