More than 90 per cent of people in Sheffield believe that community spirit is important – and a new competition will celebrate this.

Hallam FM is launching The Star-backed Happy Street campaign to raise money for Cash for Kids. Happy Street will offer one winner the chance to throw a massive party for their community on August 21. Hallam FM will broadcast live from the street and provide music acts, fairground rides, dance troupes, food and a petting zoo sponsored by Morfitt Smith Estate Agents.

Streets will be shortlisted by a judging panel and will then prove their community spirit through fundraising activities in the race for the Happy Street crown.

Gill Furniss MP for Hillsborough and Brightside said: “Some may say that community spirit is in decline, but I hope that through this competition we can encourage people to get together with their neighbours, get fundraising, and show people do still love where they live.”

Register your street or community group at www.hallamfm.co.uk/happystreet by June 23.
