A Sheffield pub has reopened reopening following a £500,000 refurbishment.

The Abbey, situated on the corner of Chesterfield Road on Woodseats, has been revamped inside and out following the investment from pub chain Punch Taverns.

The first floor function room has been extended to accommodate meetings and gatherings such as parties, funeral receptions and wedding celebrations.

The redecorated function space also includes a new bar, large screen projector and IT and sound equipment.

Outside, the external areas have been improved to allow outside eating and drinking.

The popular bowling green facilities have also been upgraded.

General manager Wayne Morton said: “The new-look Abbey provides the perfect venue for customers looking for a relaxed, community pub environment.

“We plan to have regular live music acts from solo artists and hold outdoor events to appeal to all the family.

“I’m from Sheffield myself and I believe that there is a gap in the local market place for a venue like The Abbey and I’m hugely confident that we will be able to broaden its appeal.”
