Sheffield pram man earns prestigious award

John Burkhill receives his Performance of the Year award from an Events for All representative.

INSPIRATIONAL Sheffield fundraiser John Burkhill has added to his collection of honours after being named performer of the year in the Jane Tomlinson For All Awards.

John, affectionately known as the Man With A Pram, picked up his award at the glitzy ceremony in Leeds, at an event to celebrate people helping to continue Jane’s legacy.

Judges said of the Sheffield fundraiser: “At the age of 74, John is a true inspiration.

“After the tragedy of losing both his wife and daughter, since their deaths he has raised an incredible £150,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.”

Jane, from Leeds, made headlines across the world by competing in a series of epic charity challenges from the London Marathon to a 4,200 mile cycle ride across the USA – despite being diagnosed with incurable cancer.

Even after her death in 2007 Jane’s charity work continues through ‘For All’ events.
