Woodhouse Post Office in Sheffield is to close later this month for a two-week refurbishment programme.
The branch on Chapel Street is to be transformed into an open-plan shop with longer opening hours.
It is to close on Monday, October 28, and will open again at 1pm on Wednesday, November 13.
Customers are advised to use Frecheville and Stradbroke Post Offices during the refurbishment period.
Post Office regional network manager for central England, Adrian Wales, said: “We understand how important the post office is to residents in Woodhouse.
“We are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.
He said: “This modernisation is part of a three-year investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office, that will see around half of the Post Office network converting to new-style branches and marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
