MEET Ryan Lewis - the star of The Star!

Devoted paper boy Ryan has earned himself a shiny new mountain bike after delivering a perfect service - never once missing a single round while taking The Star to Sheffield homes.

Ryan, aged 14, said he was especially pleased to win because he doesn’t own a bike, and has always wanted one.

The Year 10 pupil at Bradfield School was entered into a prize draw along with 30 other paper boys and girls, all employed by The Star, each of whom also delivered their newspaper rounds perfectly over the past year.

The youngsters have popped every one of their newspapers through letterboxes correctly, on time, to the right addresses – even in bad weather.

But Ryan went a step further - by keeping The Star’s delivery service updated on occasions customers changed their orders over the year.

Ryan said he won’t be using his new bike for his deliveries ‘because there are too many steps’ on his route on Winn Gardens.

But he said: “I’m going to take it out with my friends when I get my bike home. I’m looking forward to it.”

Keith Graham, direct deliveries manager at The Star, who organised the competition, said: “Out of our 175 paper boys and girls we had a high number of people enter the draw so Ryan was a lucky lad to win.

“In the year and a bit that Ryan has worked for us he has been exemplary, and really goes above and beyond the call of duty by phoning us about order changes.

“He’s not on his own though - there have been about two dozen extremely good employees this year and it could have been any of them who won.”
