ADVENTUROUS pals who met at Sheffield Teacher Training College and trekked from South Yorkshire to Mount Everest twice - once in 1967 and again two years ago - are giving a talk about their expeditions.

David Peckett and John Driskell travelled over land through Europe, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan and India to Nepal, with Everest as their goal, trekking from Kathmandu to Kala Pattar at an altitude of 18,200ft.

The pair, from Barnsley, have written a book about their experiences and have been booked as guest speakers at a fundraising dinner organised by Barnsley Rockley Rotary Club on Wednesday, May 9.

Tickets for the dinner, at the Holiday Inn, Barnsley, cost £10 per person.
