Nick Clegg made one of his first outings in Sheffield since stepping down as the Liberal Democrats’ leader at the reopening of a city pub.

The Sheffield Hallam MP - who held on to his constituency seat with a reduced majority following the poll earlier this month - attended the relaunch of the Shiny Sheff on Crimicar Lane in Lodge Moor.

The pub has been refurbished and now offers a revamped menu.

The Shiny Sheff was originally the nickname of HMS Sheffield, a Type 42 guided missile destroyer, sunk on May 10 1982 after an Argentine air attack during the Falklands War.

Crew members visit the pub on an annual trip each year.
