DAVID Blunkett was presented with a stone sculpture after being named a Champion Role Model for disabled children and young people.

Youngsters and youth workers handed the memento to the Brightside and Hillsborough MP, who was honoured in national awards.

Sculptor Andrew Vickers - known as Stone Face and who carved the sculpture presented to the Labour MP - was also in attendance.

Chrissy Meleady, chair of Sheffield Children’s Centre, Shoreham Street, and who organises the presentation, said: “David helped make a step change in how disabled children, young people and families should be considered and treated.”
