A SHEFFIELD woman who was appointed an MBE for her service to the cutlery industry more than 40 years ago has died at the age of 92.

Margaret Arnold, who leaves no immediate family, died in Sheffield’s Royal Hallamshire Hospital on Sunday, February 24.

Miss Arnold, of Greystones, was made an MBE in the 1969 New Year Honours List.

During her working life she served several organisations within the Sheffield Trades Employer Association.

She was executive secretary of the Cutlery and Allied Trades Research Association and secretary of the United Kingdom Cutlery and Silverware Manufacturer’s Association.

Following her retirement in 1978, Miss Arnold worked as a volunteer at St Luke’s Hospice in Whirlow, Sheffield, until she was aged in her 80s.

Her funeral service will take place at Hutcliffe Wood Crematorium on Friday, March 8, at 10.30am.

Family flowers only please.

Doncations can be made in lieu of flowers to St Luke’s Hospice.
