A mum-of-three is juggling childcare with marathon training in a bid to raise £3,000 for a charity close to her heart.
Ellie Gunning, 33, will run the London Marathon on April 13 for the Sick Children’s Trust, which supported her friend’s son when he was seriously ill in hospital.
Ellie, who lives in Crookes with husband Duncan, 36 and kids Amelia, eight, Laurie, six, and Harley, two, said: “I really have to cram in the training when I can.
“My son goes into nursery two mornings a week so my mornings which should be spent cleaning and tidying are actually spent running!
“I try to get in as much as I can at weekends too then I have a treadmill I use when he has his afternoon nap.”
Ellie is running for her friend Laura Leverton. Laura and her husband Marcus stayed at the charity’s Treetop House at Sheffield Children’s Hospital while their son, Harry, was receiving lifesaving treatment.
Laura, who is now a regional fundraiser for the charity, said: “Every penny that Ellie raises will help us to keep families together when they need each other most.”
