A ROAD safety campaign urging drivers to slow down to 20mph near homes, schools and shops has won the backing of a Sheffield law firm.

Irwin Mitchell is supporting Road Safety Week, run by Brake, which aims to reduce the risk of accidents involving pedestrians and cyclists.

Neil Whiteley, a serious injury expert at the legal practice, said speed is a key factor in most serious accidents, and the number of cyclists hit by cars has increased recently.

He said Irwin Mitchell workers have volunteered for events and awareness training.
