Sheffield lass first past the post in racecourse beauty showdown

SHEFFIELD nursing assistant Olivia Cunliffe was voted the judges' favourite filly in the Miss South Yorkshire 2010 contest held at Doncaster Racecourse.

The 20-year-old, who hopes to pursue a career as a children's nurse, came out on top in a regional heat featuring contestants from the whole county.

Olivia will now take part in the Miss England contest in London in July, following in the footsteps of Rotherham's Jaime-Lee Faulkner last year.

Jaime-Lee went on to achieve sixth place in the Miss England 2009 finals.

Success in the Miss England final will see the winner compete in the Miss World showdown towards the end of the year.

In all 10 gorgeous girls from South Yorkshire lined up at the racecourse, all reaching the final heat from 65 original entrants.

They represented all parts of the region, and further afield too - with one girl coming from Cleethorpes.

Competition was so strong the girls presented the judges and the text-voting public with a real challenge

Stefanie Rycraft-Jones, aged 22, from Epworth near Doncaster, a graduate who works freelance in creative marketing and design, and who is carving a career in modelling, was awarded second place.

The third place winner was Elkie Chapman, aged 21, a media studies student from Rotherham.
