Sheffield industrial unit cordoned off

AN exclusion zone has been set up around an industrial unit in Sheffield amid fears a gas canister inside could explode.

A 200 metre cordon has been put up around the unit on Acres Hill Lane, Darnall, after firefighters dealing with a blaze last night discovered an acetylene gas cylinder - which can explode when they overheat.

The cordon will remain in place until the canister is deemed cool enough to no longer pose a risk.

Fire crews were called to Autoways at 6.30pm to a report that an outbuilding was alight.

The cause of the blaze is not yet known.
