TV STAR Keith Chegwin warmed up Sheffield woman Lorraine Turton’s frosty morning - with a hot £15,000 cash prize.
Cult celebrity Cheggers turned up at 55-year-old Lorraine’s home in Deepcar with a giant cheque.
“It was such a shock seeing Cheggers on my doorstep,” said Lorraine, who had entered a free prize draw online.
“It couldn’t have come at a better time with this freezing weather – now I can finally buy double glazing for my house!”
Keith Chegwin was recruited by website PCH Prizes to deliver the welcome funds.
After whizzing around Sheffield on a cash trail in a special blue branded taxi, giving out a total of £1,500 to 15 lucky winners picked at random, he then headed to Lorraine’s house to hand over her winning cheque.
Lorraine, who lives with her husband Stephen, and has a daughter, a son, and three dogs, said: “I’ve been entering the free prize draws on the website for a few months now.
“But I never actually dreamed I’d win!”
Cheggers said: “We’ve been all over Sheffield, handing out cash to winners in the city centre and at Meadowhall to celebrate the £15,000 prize giving.
“It was great fun seeing people’s shocked faces when we handed them an envelope filled with cash!
“It was fantastic when we knocked on Lorraine’s door, she was so surprised – she had absolutely no idea she had won and I was delighted to hand her the £15,000 cheque. It’s such a lot of money!”
The website’s parent company, Publishers Clearing House, has been running in America for over 55 years, giving out more than £130m in prizes.
Since launching in the UK in 2011 it has given away over £400,000 and Lorraine is one of the big winners.
