A hotel on the outskirts of Sheffield is set for a major expansion.
The Double Tree By Hilton Hotel at Sheffield Park on Chesterfield Road South is seeking planning permission to build an extra 39 guest bedrooms in a three-storey extension.
The hotel, which sits close to Meadowhead School and has operated from the site for over 20 years, currently has 95 bedrooms.
A spokesman said: “In view of the success of the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel at Sheffield Park, Franklin Ellis Architects have been commissioned to develop proposals for extending the hotel to increase the number of guest bedrooms.
“The additional guest rooms will provide further visitors for local facilities and businesses.
“The development will bring minimal additional traffic to the site and the site isn’t adjacent to any residential accommodation.”
The spokesman said the intended changes will result in a ‘minor loss’ of the parking spaces at the hotel.
A decision on whether to give the hotel expansion the go-ahead is expected to be made by Sheffield Council by mid-July, with the plans currently out to consultation.
