Sheffield hospice’s shops scoop top prize

Have your say

It’s official – if you want to pick up a bargain, you’d better head to the St Luke’s chain of charity shops!

The Sheffield hospice’s chain of 12 shops won the Most Profitable Charity Operation prize in the 11 to 20 shop category at the Charity Retail Awards.

“This is an incredible accolade for the many members of staff and volunteers who work so hard throughout the year to ensure that our shops reach the highest standards of quality and good value,” said St Luke’s Head of Retail Paul Summerland.

St Luke’s has shops from Stocksbridge in the north and Crystal Peaks in the South and are a key feature of high streets in Abbeydale, Nether Edge, Crookes, Hillsborough, Firth Park, Chapeltown, Ecclesall, Woodseats, Pinstone Street and Gleadless.

“Another major factor in our success is the continuing support of the people of Sheffield,” said Paul.

“They not only shop with us but they also make the donations of stock that are vital to all our activity.

“Remember your unwanted clothing, books, CDs, DVDs, household items and bric-a-brac can all find new homes through our shops and make an enormous contribution to the £5.6 million the hospice needs to raise annually to maintain its service to all the people of Sheffield.”
