A Sheffield community centre has been renamed in honour of a former council housing champion.
Terry Wright, who died of cancer in October 2012, was chairman of Gleadless Valley Tenants and Residents Association.
He also served as chairman of the South West Area Housing Board for nearly six years.
In recognition of his hard work and dedication to the area, a special ceremony was held at Newfield Green Tenants’ Hall, where the building was officially renamed the Terry Wright Community Hall.
Coun Harry Harpham, cabinet member for homes and neighbourhoods, said: “Terry’s passion for the Gleadless Valley estate was second to none. Terry and his family have been an integral part of the Gleadless Valley community for more than 40 years.”
Terry’s wife Frances said: “We feel proud Terry has been recognised in this way.”
