A junior hair stylist from Sheffield has proved she is a cut above after winning a top industry award.
Alex Livett, who works at Wigs and Warpaint in the city centre, has been named Junior Stylist of the Year at the English Hair and Beauty Awards.
The 21-year-old, of Banner Cross, said the award was a highlight of her career so far.
She said: “It’s such a big achievement. The support from the salon has been really good too - I don’t think I could have done it without everyone.
“When I first went on the shop floor it was really daunting and I had no confidence. But everyone helps you which is nice. It’s a good team - we are like a family.”
Alex started hairdressing when she was 18 and has passed her NVQ levels two and three. She was promoted to stylist last October and has since been helping out at the Wigs and Warpaint training academy to pass on her skills to new starters.
In the future, her dream is to have her own salon.
“I want to be involved in more competitions and get myself out there,” she said.
“I don’t just want to be in the salon - I want to be involved in things like catwalks and Fashion Week too.”
