Forget beans on toast – it’s fine dining all the way for these Sheffield students.
Food-loving undergraduates from The University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University went head to head in a cook-off contest.
The competition invited teams of students, studying a range of degree courses, to produce and cook a menu inspired by locally-sourced produce.
They were mentored by some of the best chefs in the area in the build-up to the Sheffield On a Plate competition at Sheffield College in Granville Road.
After they were served up an adventurous menu full of posh purées and homemade chocolates, the judging panel crowned the six-strong Hallam team, led by history student Kathy Davies, the winner.
The project is funded by the National Union of Students and the Higher Education Fund in a bid to connect students and the wider Sheffield community.
