Thanks for voting for us!
That was the message from grateful members of Sheffield community groups who scooped £3,000 from Lloyds Bank Community Fund after receiving the most votes from the public.
Staff and volunteers from Support Dogs, epilepsy charity FABLE, The Children’s Hospital Charity and Stocksbridge Park Steels Football Club all attended a celebration event at the Lloyds branch on High Street in Sheffield city centre.
Allen Bethel, of the football club, said: “The £3,000 will mean that we can finish the two pitches so the children can play football safely without being injured by rocks poking through the soil or worrying about dog excrement.”
He added: “Supporting all children, disadvantaged or not, to improve their fitness, social and football skills regardless of their ability is imperative.”
Eight good causes were shortlisted for the money before votes were cast online.
