SHEFFIELD’S transport network was yet again plunged into chaos during rush hour last night, after a bus broke down in the city centre.
Trams were suspended in both directions when a single-decker 51 First bus heading for Lodge Moor broke down on the corner of West Street and Leopold Street just after 5pm.
Buses were diverted down Trippet Lane but the Supertram network ground to a halt, with services running only east from the Cathedral and north-west from the university.
A First driver said the problem was a fault with the bus’s air tank. It took 45 minutes for engineers to arrive at the scene.
