SHEFFIELD University graduate Hilary Mantel could become the first person to win all three major book prizes after Bring Up The Bodies was nominated for the Woman’s Prize For Fiction.

The 60-year-old novelist, who studied law at Sheffield where she graduated in 1973, has already scooped the Booker prize, for the second time, and the Costa Prize.

Now her acclaimed historical sequel Bring Up The Bodies, part of a trilogy charting the rise and fall of Thomas Cromwell, is in the running for the Women’s Prize.

Actress Miranda Richardson, chairman of the judges, said: “The list we have contains works which inspired the most excitement and passion among the judges.”

The shortlist is announced on Tuesday, April 16, and the winner in June.
