Sheffield golfer Matt Fitzpatrick has reportedly been robbed after taking part in a tournament in Rome.
The 20 year old former Tapton School pupil wrote on his twitter feed that his clubs had been taken from a hire car, along with other valuables and his suitcase.
Fitzpatrick had been playing in the EMC Golf Challenge Open as part of the European Challenge Tour, where he finished tied 7th at Olgiata Golf Club.
Fitzpatrick tweeted: “Awful end to the week! Clubs, cases and all valuables stolen from the rental car in Rome. There truly are some awful people in the world!!”
The Hallamshire Golf Club member is in his first year as a professional having had a hugely successful amateur career in which he won, among other honours, the US Amateur championship, in 2013.
