IRRESPONSIBLE dog owners and vandals have been blamed for a decision to close the gates from a public park to a town’s football pitch.

Dronfield Town Council has agreed to permanently lock the gates around the pitch used by Dronfield Town FC, at Stonelow Playing Fields, after the club complained of dog fouling, vandalism and health and safety concerns.

Club secretary Darren Bradwell told councillors the gates were locked after having to clear dog dirt from the pitch before each match and having their facilities vandalised.
