PROGRESS on the final phase of redevelopment work at former high-rise flats in Sheffield has been welcomed.
Plans for the site of the former Fosters tower block, High Green, were approved in January and work is set to start at the end of this month.
Four two-bedroom apartments are being built above a new shop, which is set to be occupied by convenience store chain One Stop.
The first two phases of the development have already been completed, providing 15 flats and seven family homes at affordable rents.
Coun Trevor Bagshaw, Sheffield Council Liberal Democrat member for West Ecclesfield ward, which includes High Green, said: “I’m pleased work is finally going ahead on this. I’ve worked with council officers to ensure we get the best possible outcome for the community. Affordable housing is needed – so I’m pleased we have been able to deliver that.”
