Firefighters were called out to rescue a horse that had fallen down a ditch in Sheffield.

Crews from Birley Moor and Tankersley fire stations were called out to the incident on Chapel Street in Mosborough around 9am on Monday.

The horse, named Cruz, had slipped and was trapped in a narrow gap and was unable to get back up without help.

With the help of a vet and the owner, crews were able to get an animal sling around Cruz and drag him out of the hole.

The horse is said to be recovering from the ordeal.
