Residents of a Sheffield community united to complete their first well dressing as part of the area’s 12th annual festival.
The display, based around the theme of Living Water. was set up outside St Mary’s Church, Howard Road, Walkley, as part of Walkley Festival.
The Reverend Melanie Fitzgerald, vicar of St Mary’s said: “We no longer know where the wells were in Walkley.
“However, there are still plenty of springs in the area and water is certainly rather a theme for us at St Mary’s with the rising damp, rotting gutters and the need of a new roof.”
A festival spokeswoman said the well dressing brought together lots of different people from the area, with men, women and children all joining in.
The well dressing will be on display until Saturday, with the festival closing on Sunday.
The festival is organised by Walkey Community Forum, an independent voluntary organisation, in partnership with local businesses, churches and other organisations.
Highlights have included a teddy bears’ picnic, craft groups and talks.
