Staffordshire terrier Ellie may be an older lady – but she still has a lot of love to give and is looking for a forever home in Sheffield.
Named after the singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding, the playful pooch is hoping to find a relaxing home where she can spend her later years with a caring owner.
Tony Benham, animal care manager at RSPCA Sheffield, where Ellie is waiting for a home, said: “Ellie is a lovely middle-aged dog whose pleasant ways and good looks, would make her the perfect pet for someone.
“She’s friendly and enjoys human company and despite her size, she thinks that really she is a lap dog and would happily curl up on your knee if allowed to.
“Although she’s aged about 11, Ellie still loves to play and will happily swap one toy for another so you can throw them for her.
“She has no known health problems and all our dogs leave our centre neutered, innoculated and with a month’s free pet insurance.”
“Ellie can work well around other dogs, but at times she can be a little reactive around them, so she is looking for a home where she can ideally be the only pet and where her new owner is willing to put in time and effort to help Ellie become more confident around other dogs.”
RSPCA staff would prefer to find Ellie a new home where she is not left alone for long periods as she loves company and attention. If her new home has children, they say those over the age of eight would be best suited.
