Dad Neil Cockshaw has always had a bit of a lucky streak – and the competition fan from Sheffield admits his biggest win was the hand of wife Dawn nine years ago.

Tonight he is taking her for a romantic night out after winning The Star’s Valentine’s Win A Date competition.

The 45-year-olds, from High Green, will leave daughters Sian, 14, and six-year-old Ruby with a babysitter to enjoy a meal for two at Chiquito and tickets to see Sleepless in Seattle at Cineworld Sheffield, at Valley Centertainment. Dawn, a nurse at the Northern General Hospital, has also received a bouquet from Flourish Flowers in Crookes plus a pampering set from Lush.

Administration worker Neil said: “I have been quite lucky in life, not least in meeting Dawn!

“I like entering competitions in general and when I saw this one in The Star I thought it would be a lovely surprise for this time of year.

“We never just let Valentine’s Day go by as another day in the calendar, we do make the effort, and we were planning to have a nice meal at home together. Last year we went away for the weekend. I was really pleased to win, it’s a lovely prize and it is always exciting to win.”
