A couple are celebrating becoming the first residents to move onto a new housing development in Sheffield.

Ashley Wardley and James Pashley, both aged 27, have moved from a rented house in Hunters Bar to a new three-bedroom property on the Brearley Forge development in Parson Cross.

Hair stylist James and secondary school teacher Ashley accessed the government’s Help to Buy scheme, which helps first-time buyers get a foot onto the property ladder.

James said: “We have only been living here for three weeks and it feels like we are staying in someone else’s house at the moment, everything is so clean.”

A total of 142 new homes are being built on the development by the Sheffield Housing Company – a partnership between Sheffield Council, Keepmoat and Great Places – which plans to build 2,300 new homes across the city over the next 15 years.
