A children’s play centre in a Sheffield suburb has been forced to close.

Happy Monsters soft play centre on Orgreave Drive, Handsworth, announced that the business has ceased trading as of today.

A statement on the centre’s Facebook page said: “We are absolutely devastated to inform you that Happy Monsters has ceased to trade.

“For the last week we have been negotiating a sale which would have meant the playcentre would continue trading, but under new management.

“Unfortunately this is no longer the case and we won’t be re-opening.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused, and we will be contacting anyone with a party booked as soon as possible.

“May we take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of our loyal and valued customers, some of whom have become great friends, we will sadly miss you all.”

Devastated customers left messages of support and dismay in equal measure.

Ruth Daudjee said: “Really sad news. We love Happy Monsters! First place I made new friends in a new city.

“Thanks so much for making Tuesdays the highlight of our week.”

Paula-Louise Morgan said: “Oh I am gutted! My boys have had lots have fun at happy monsters.”

Emma Haigh added: “This makes me really sad, we loved our play dates here and the food was always top notch too! Wishing you all lots of love and luck for whatever the future brings.”
