Children in Sheffield hit the right note after successfully putting on two iconic musicals from scratch – in the space of two days.

Youngsters at the June D Gill School of Theatre Dance in Broomhill staged productions of Annie and Cinderella during their annual summer school.

They had to rehearse, put the show together and perform it to an audience in just two days.

“It was about the children learning all aspects of musical theatre,” said principal June Gill.

“They were singing, acting, dancing, helping to put the stage together and designing props. They covered everything.

“It was very popular with the parents. It got to the stage where it was so packed that we were having to turn some of them away.”

She added: “It was a great experience for the children and they really enjoyed it.”

There was also more good news for the school as they confirmed that a group of their dancers have successfully auditioned to perform at Disneyland Paris in October.
