He’s back on the streets of Sheffield with his trademark green wig and pram.
Sheffield charity fundraiser John Burkhill - known affectionately as the Man with the Pram - is back in action after being laid up in hospital.
John, aged 74, has suffered two strokes in recent months and has been diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat.
But he is determined his poor health won’t stop him from walking the streets with his pram and collecting money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
John was outside Sheffield Town Hall with staff from Macmillan who parked up their mobile information bus.
He met members of the public and allowed them to pose for pictures with his Olympic torch.
John said: “I have had a couple of strokes and I’ve been out of action for a little bit but I’m back now. I did The Star Walk at the weekend and I will be taking part in my 30th Sheffield half marathon in a couple of weeks’ time.”
Members of the Macmillan team chatted to visitors about cancer and handed out information and advice.
Amanda Fry of Macmillan said: “It was a chance for us to thank John for all his hard work and pass on advice and support.”
John, from Darnall, has been fundraising for Macmillan after he lost both his wife June and daughter Karen to cancer.
He said: “A lot of people have been asking after me and I’ve been overwhelmed that people care.”
